The next time you walk into a casino or in bingo hall, especially if it is a Las Vegas casino, smile for the cameras because you are being taped by a security camera from the time you walk into a casino gambling hall until the time you walk out. Some security cameras are equipped with software that scans the images and matches identified trouble makers for the staff.  The casino security cameras pick up all of the action in the casino, except in the rest rooms.

The purpose of these cameras is, among other things, to detect and halt cheaters.  Each table has a protocol that is written by the floor manager.  These are things that the staff and players must or must not do.  For example, when a dealer coughs and covers his mouth with his hands, you will see the dealer show his hands to the cameras, both palms up and palms down. Protocol means the non-verbal signals used at the blackjack table where the player signals if he wants to hit or not to hit.

When there is a deviation from protocol, the security staff wants to know why.  The deviation from protocol is usually an indication that something is happening at that table. If the dealer thinks that something is going on at his table, he will notify security to focus on the table until they determine what is happening.  If the cameras pick up any wrong doing it is reported and prosecuted. Always remember the cameras are rolling whenever you are in a casino.
